SPOONER LAKE, Nev. — Join a Park Ranger for a guided hike to the famous Sand Harbor Overlook on the Tahoe Rim Trail. The hike is a four-mile loop and offers breathtaking views of Sand Harbor. The hike is moderately difficult, and you’ll need to bring water, lunch, sunscreen and sturdy hiking boots.
Meet at the Spooner Lake State Park upper parking lot at 9 a.m. and we’ll drive our own vehicles up to the Marlette Peak Campground to start the hike. 4WD vehicles are necessary; either full or mid-sized trucks or SUV’s, and drivers must be comfortable driving on backcountry dirt roads.
Sign-ups are required and space is limited to 6 vehicles. Carpooling is encouraged (we can help with that); please no vehicles with single occupants (drivers). Sign up by calling 775-749-5980 or emailing smicklus@parks.nv.gov
